Crazy Mountain was founded in January of 2010 in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. With a combined passion for craft beer, Kevin and Marisa Selvy set out to start Vail Valley’s first production brewery. They built it in the footprint of an abandoned gutted warehouse, utilizing tanks and equipment from around the globe, and lots of imagination and elbow grease from within.
Their first beer was poured at a beer festival in that same month, and they began actual distribution two months later. In October of 2010, they opened their public tasting room. Late in 2013 they underwent a massive expansion, increasing capacity from 12,000 to 20,000. They have more than doubled their number of employees, benefiting not only the local and state communities economically, but helping build Vail Valley’s diversity, attracting people to set up residences there.
They are coming close to realizing their dream that the Valley is known not only for skiing and outdoor sports, but for its brews, too. Proudly, they have created several new processes and modified how beer production can work in ways that have not been done before — ideas that have been put into use by other brew establishments. In 2012, they won the coveted Sustainable Brewer Award. Crazy Mountain’s handcrafted products are now available in multiple states, in cans, bottles and draft. And you will find them in Sweden, Japan or Hong Kong, too!
Try a little Mountain Livin’ Pale Ale — your favorite Beer of the Month Club guarantees you won’t be disappointed! It’s hopped in such a way that puts the hop flavors front and center with coy bitterness fading into the background. With fresh tropical fruit flavors, it’s a unique example of how a Pale Ale can express its inner hoppiness!
Crazy Mountain Amber Ale is delightfully floral, with a wonderful balance that maintains its pure hop goodness. Lots of West Coast hops added late in the boil result in a hoppy brew with no bitterness.
PALE ALE — Crazy Mountain’s Mountain Livin’ Pale Ale: Inspite of the name, these fruity, nutty, toasty flavored brews are golden to amber in color. Well balanced (usually with distinct bitterness), you’ll find this one big on hop goodness. Serve with burgers, English cheese and bread pudding.
AMBER ALE — Crazy Mountain’s Amber Ale: This honey-colored honey of a brew is rich flavored with great full body. It’s a top notch top-fermented ale with perfect personality: big hop flavor and no trace of bitterness. Excellent with foods like pizza or Mexican cuisine. Imagine tipping a can of great beer, seeing mountains beyond the rim. .
