(No Vintage, Red) Country: Italy Region: Modina Province Grapes: Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Salamino, Lambrusco Grasparossa
Lambrusco di Modena is produced in and around Modena, a city located in north-central Italy and famous for producing balsamic vinegar and some of the world’s most famous cars, including the Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati. Modena lies in the heart of Emilia-Romagna’s Lambrusco Zone.
The Famiglia Carafoli winery was founded in 1919 by Mauro Carafoli, just a few kilometers from Sorbara, the heart of the production region. In 1951 he was joined by his two sons, and in 1965, with the acquisition of 50 acres of vineyards in Sorbara, they started growing their own grapes. Today, three brothers, make up the third generation of the family to run the business.
Their dark ruby red wine with the purple highlights is 50% Lambrusco di Sorbara, 30% Lambrusco Salamino and 20% Lambrusco Grasparossa. The nose opens with a refreshing intense bouquet with notes of roses and violets, and inklings of red fruits. Supple and charming on the palate, with a lively froth, pleasant freshness and fabulous taste, it’s medium-sweet, full-bodied, with a gentle taste of cherries. Enjoy it now with anything sweet and sour, lasagna, tortellini, parmesan cheese and even desserts. Served at 46°F, it’s not just a bottle of wine — it’s a way of living!
